We are currently looking for an experienced contract Project Manager to work for a leading Fire & Security contractor delivering large-scale custodial projects across Cambridge and Newmarket. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong, hands-on Project Manager with experience in Fire Detection and Security systems to work on high-profile new-build prison projects, managing installations from initial enquiry through to completion.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing Fire & Security projects from start to finish, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Working closely with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams, you'll oversee installations, manage labour and materials, and ensure projects run smoothly from tender stage through to final commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Fire Detection & Security installation projects from enquiry to handover
- Coordinate site labour, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Liaise with clients and internal departments throughout the project lifecycle
- Prepare and manage project programmes and schedules
- Handle project variations and additional works
- Procure materials and manage project resources
- Ensure compliance with current British Standards and site requirements
- Maintain strong commercial and financial control across projects
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within Fire & Security
- Strong knowledge of Fire Detection systems and associated equipment
- Experience delivering projects from tender through to commissioning
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Commercial awareness and strong problem-solving ability
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
- Full UK Driving Licence preferred
