Our client is recruiting for an Engineering Geologist / Senior Engineering Geologist to join a multidisciplinary civil, structural and geotechnical team in Leeds. You will deliver ground investigation, geotechnical design, reporting and project support across a range of UK projects with a strong focus on rail.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and review interpretative geotechnical reports.
  • Develop ground models and support geotechnical design.
  • Undertake earthworks, slope and infrastructure assessments.
  • Carry out Preliminary Risk Assessments and Mining Risk Assessments.
  • Supervise ground investigations and site activities.
  • Support project management, budgets, programmes and technical submissions.
  • Attend client meetings, technical discussions and site visits.
  • Mentor junior geologists and engineers.
  • Promote quality, health, safety and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Geology or a related discipline.
  • Around 6–8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in rail, earthworks inspections and reporting.
  • Experience producing Geotechnical Interpretative Reports and Mining Risk Assessments.
  • Experience in ground investigation planning, specification, supervision and reporting.
  • Knowledge of ground models, geotechnical design, UK standards and legislation.
  • Ability to use geotechnical software and carry out hand calculations.
  • Strong communication, organisation and client‑facing skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site.
  • MA in Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or a related field, and progress towards CGeol or CEng is beneficial.

Location & Compensation

Based in Leeds. Salary is dependent on experience.
