Qualiteach Yorkshire are looking for an experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant for a specialist school in Leeds LS8 for children with moderate and complex learning needs. The setting is an SEN school split into different provisions, who are looking for someone with a range of experience to join their team ASAP.

The Role

  • Working with children on a 1:1 and group basis who have a variety of needs, tailoring learning to suit them
  • Working within a team and helping to build a comfortable environment for all children and staff
  • Following care plans, EHCPs, Pupil Passports and other relevant documents
  • Being comfortable with personal care is advantageous
  • Using a holistic approach within a multi-disciplinary team of specialists
  • Supporting the broad curriculum that involves core knowledge and non-subject specific learning

What you will need

  • Experience of working with children who have complex needs
  • A willingness to jump in and help where necessary
  • Being competent in helping to prepare the pupils for becoming ready for adulthood through being a positive role model and influence
  • The ability to support challenging behaviour, encourage independence and be patient and willing to build long lasting relationships with pupils
