Our Client is one of the largest, and leading, independently owned MEP Consulting Engineers operating in the UK today. With circa 200 staff to call upon and multiple regional offices from which to locally support live projects, this intelligent M&E practice has huge ambitions with a shared goal to become the leading name in building services on these shores. The Leeds office is a relatively new addition to the company, currently home to a sustainability team and a rapidly growing MEP design team.

A specialist Public Health Engineer is required to support a wide variety of schemes across sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and mixed-use developments. The appointed Engineer will be responsible for the design, specification, and coordination of Public Health Engineering Systems, contributing to high-quality, sustainable building services solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Above and below ground drainage
  • Hot and cold water services
  • Rainwater harvesting systems
  • Greywater recycling systems
  • Produce detailed calculations, layouts, schematics, and specifications
  • Prepare reports and technical documentation
  • Coordinate designs with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, and structural engineers
  • Attend design team meetings and liaise with clients, architects, and contractors
  • Ensure compliance with relevant UK standards, regulations, and best practice
  • Undertake site inspections and monitor installation quality
  • Support Junior Engineers and contribute to team development
Requirements
  • Professional qualifications in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience in a public health engineering role within a design environment
  • Strong knowledge of UK regulations and standards (e.g., Water Regulations, British Standards, Building Regulations)
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and Revit (BIM experience desirable)
  • Good understanding of sustainable design principles
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage workload and meet project deadlines
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Working towards or achieved Chartered Engineer status (e.g., CIBSE or IMechE)
  • Experience with large-scale or complex developments
  • Knowledge of BREEAM or other sustainability assessment methods
  • Familiarity with modern methods of construction (MMC)
