We are seeking a talented and experienced Project Architect (circa 5-10 years post-Part 3) to join a well-established, medium-sized architectural practice in Leeds. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the design and delivery of major high-rise buildings, contributing to landmark residential and mixed-use developments of up to 25 storeys, as well as specialist care homes, listed building conversions, and bespoke private residences.
You will take ownership of significant projects from concept through to completion, with a particular focus on high-rise and mixed-use schemes, working closely with senior leadership and playing an active role in shaping both projects and the wider direction of the practice. Crucially, this position is being viewed as a long-term strategic hire. The practice is actively looking to invest in an ambitious individual who is keen to progress beyond a standard Project Architect role. For the right candidate, there is a clear and supported pathway into senior leadership, with the opportunity to play a key role in the future succession planning of the business. This makes it an ideal opportunity for a driven Project Architect or emerging Senior Architect who is looking to step up, take on more responsibility, and grow into a leadership position over time.
Why Join the Practice?
- Work in a collaborative, design‑led environment with exceptional staff retention
- Lead technically challenging, high‑profile projects across the UK
- Work closely with Directors and senior leadership on both projects and strategic decisions
- Be part of a forward‑thinking practice with a clear plan for future growth and leadership transition
- Genuine opportunity to progress into a senior leadership role as part of the company’s succession plan
- Flexible working arrangements and a supportive team culture
- Ongoing CPD and professional development
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage architectural projects from RIBA Stage 0-7, ensuring design quality, compliance, and buildability
- Coordinate with contractors, subconsultants, and multidisciplinary teams
- Prepare technical documentation, drawings, and specifications compliant with UK Building Regulations and BIM Level 2 workflows
- Take a proactive role in client liaison and project delivery
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to the development of the wider team
Required Skills & Experience
- 5-10 years post-Part 3 experience as a Project Architect, ideally with experience on high‑rise or complex residential/mixed‑use schemes
- Demonstrable project management experience across all RIBA stages
- Excellent technical knowledge and ability to deliver compliant, buildable design solutions
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM Level 2 workflows
- Strong communication, leadership, and client‑facing skills
- Ambition to progress into a senior or leadership role within a practice
- RIBA Chartered status
Benefits
- Opportunity to lead high‑profile projects across the UK
