Jackson Hogg is supporting a global manufacturer in their search for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a busy industrial site in Leeds. This role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical maintenance background who enjoys variety, responsibility and being hands on with plant and site infrastructure. You will play a key part in keeping plant and machinery running safely and efficiently while supporting site management and external contractors.

What you will be doing:

  • Carrying out routine and planned maintenance on all plant and machinery
  • Monitoring and scheduling maintenance in line with manufacturer recommendations
  • Acting as the first point of contact for site repairs and maintenance activities
  • Liaising with operations and site management regarding equipment condition and production issues
  • Managing and supervising external contractors and service providers on site
  • Supporting the installation and commissioning of new equipment
  • Carrying out maintenance not covered by OEM suppliers or agents
  • Managing contract labour used for maintenance activities
  • Supporting improvements to plant efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with health and safety procedures
  • Reporting incidents, accidents and hazards appropriately
  • Supporting infrastructure maintenance including buildings, yard, roads and drainage
  • Keeping the maintenance workshop and stores clean, organised and well maintained
  • Attending training courses and meetings as required
  • Supporting other sites when needed

What we are looking for:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Proven mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation
  • FLT licence is beneficial although training can be provided
  • Confident managing contractors and external service providers
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong communication skills at all levels
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and support site management when required
