Are you a Graduate Geologist looking to develop your technical skills, gain hands‑on site experience and build a long‑term career in geotechnical consultancy? My client is recruiting for a Graduate Geologist to join a multidisciplinary engineering team in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for you to work on varied geotechnical and ground investigation projects, supporting clients across sectors including infrastructure, rail, development, planning and public sector schemes.
What you will be doing
- Supporting the delivery of high‑quality geotechnical solutions from initial investigation through to reporting and design input.
- Preparing desk studies, interpretative reports and geotechnical deliverables under supervision.
- Supporting the development of ground models, geotechnical assessments and design solutions.
- Applying geological and geotechnical engineering principles to live project work.
- Assisting with ground investigation supervision and coordination.
- Supporting project and contract management activities, including programmes and budgets.
- Preparing fee proposals, tenders and technical submissions with support from senior colleagues.
- Attending site visits, client meetings and project discussions appropriate to your level.
- Working closely with civil, structural and geotechnical teams to deliver joined‑up engineering solutions.
- Supporting Preliminary Risk Assessments and intrusive ground investigations.
- Maintaining accurate site records, technical reports and project documentation.
- Promoting high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
What my client is looking for
- A degree in Geology or a related discipline.
- 1‑3 years’ relevant industry experience.
- Experience of ground investigation works and interpretative reporting.
- A strong understanding of geology, ground investigation methods and geotechnical engineering principles.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your workload effectively.
- A proactive attitude towards learning and professional development.
- The ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- A full UK driving licence, as you will be travelling to sites.
- An MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field would be beneficial.
- A CSCS card is required; this can be obtained if successful.
Salary and benefits
Salary is dependent on experience. You will be joining a supportive technical environment where you will be able to develop your site experience, reporting skills and wider geotechnical knowledge. You will have the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers and geologists while contributing to a diverse range of projects.
Location and working pattern
This role is based in Leeds and will involve a mix of office‑based work and site work. The position is full‑time.
