Job Overview
Water Metering Technician – 6 month contract in Dereham and surrounding area
Hours: 37 per week. Flexi hours – Monday to Friday 6:30–20:00, Saturday 08:00–14:00.
Training: Full training provided. Explore a new career outdoors in rain or shine. As a Meter Technician you manage your own workload, acting as the customer’s champion while supported by a large organisation. Customer‑focused individuals based within 30 minutes of Dereham and surrounding villages preferred. You will represent one of the leading water providers in the UK, maintain a professional image, and be provided with a uniform and a van. The role can be physically demanding – walking 3 to 8 miles per day – and requires the use of a handheld computer.
Responsibilities
- Act as the customer champion, ensuring customer‑driven meter reading queries, planned meter readings, and boundary box meter exchanges are completed within service levels.
- Identify and report reactive work, bill‑amendment data, and maintenance jobs for efficient resolution.
- Complete meter reading operations, maintaining accurate records and maximizing efficiency.
- Report maintenance jobs, meter exchanges, and potential leaks; liaise with customers as appropriate.
- Conduct flow tests, replace lids, complete void inspections, and confirm correct plots to postal addresses.
- Perform meter exchange operations efficiently, ensuring compliance with regulations and noting any impact on customers.
