Responsibilities
- To oversee the maintenance and efficient operation of the technical facilities of the Media and Film based courses in the college.
- To support the booking out, overseeing of maintenance and servicing of Camcorders, DSLR cameras, tripods, lights and audio recording equipment and the provision of appropriate peripherals and software such as SD cards and the transfer of student work to the Macs.
- To support the booking out, overseeing of maintenance and servicing of the Broadcast Studio for filming, recording and photography.
- To support teaching staff delivering Media and Film courses using Apple Mac computers and relevant software applications and to provide technical support for students in class and on an individual basis/as required regarding Adobe Creative Suite.
- To provide technical and creative support for students through skills development and in‑class workshops regarding Adobe Creative Suite.
The Successful Candidate
Cardinal Newman College is a wonderful place to work, and this is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced candidate to join our thriving and supportive Media department. The Media department is looking for someone who is proactive and adaptable with strong technical expertise in Apple Macs and industry‑standard creative software, including Adobe Creative Suite and DaVinci Resolve, alongside an understanding of broadcast studio environments and post‑16 education. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about supporting learning, able to communicate effectively with staff at all levels, and capable of managing a varied workload both independently and as part of a team. You should display the values, attitudes, and behaviours consistent with the Catholic Ethos of the College and have a commitment to equality/diversity and the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.
Terms and Conditions
- Hours: Between 32 and 37 hours per week, depending on the preference of the appointed candidate. Term time only.
- Full time work pattern: 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
- Salary: The post will be paid on the Sixth Form Colleges Support Staff Pay Spine at points 7 to 8 currently pro rata to £25,951 to £26,343 per annum. Actual Salary (37 hours) £22,692 to £23,035 per annum. Actual Salary (32 hours) £19,626 to £19,922 per annum.
