I am delighted to be supporting Nairn's Oatcakes with the appointment of a Manufacturing Manager for their Peffermill site in Edinburgh. This is a senior leadership role within a well-established and growing manufacturing business, offering the opportunity to lead production operations, develop high-performing teams, and drive continuous improvement across the site.

Working closely with Engineering, Technical, Supply Chain, HR, and wider leadership teams, you will play a key role in delivering operational performance while helping shape the future direction of the manufacturing function.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for leading manufacturing operations across Safety, Quality, People, Efficiency, Cost, and Delivery. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing Production Team Managers and wider manufacturing teams
  • Driving production, efficiency, waste, and service performance
  • Creating a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Ensuring high standards across Health & Safety, Food Safety, GMP, and compliance
  • Working collaboratively with Engineering to improve reliability and operational resilience
  • Supporting CI initiatives focused on efficiency, downtime reduction, and operational excellence
  • Overseeing hygiene, housekeeping, and wider site standards
  • Building strong cross-functional relationships across the business

About You

We are looking for a strong manufacturing leader with experience operating within a fast-paced production environment. You will ideally bring:

  • Previous Manufacturing / Production leadership experience
  • A strong understanding of operational performance and continuous improvement
  • Experience leading teams within food, FMCG, or a regulated manufacturing environment
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to engage teams at all levels
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety, Quality, and operational compliance
  • The ability to drive performance while developing people and culture
