We are looking for an experienced Tech Lead to join a growing engineering team focused on building scalable, high-quality digital products and platforms. This is a leadership-heavy role suited to someone who enjoys mentoring engineers, driving delivery, and helping shape engineering culture, whilst still maintaining strong technical credibility from a hands-on software engineering background. The business is focused on measured, quality-driven growth and is looking for someone who can help build high-performing teams, improve engineering standards, and deliver robust technical solutions in a collaborative environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, product, and delivery teams to support project execution, technical decision-making, and team development across a modern cloud-native technology environment. We are looking for someone who enjoys leading people, solving complex technical problems, and helping engineering teams operate effectively at scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and mentoring a cross-functional engineering team
  • Supporting engineers with technical guidance, coaching, and career development
  • Managing delivery priorities and coordinating project execution across teams
  • Helping shape engineering culture, standards, and best practices
  • Collaborating with Product and Delivery stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes
  • Supporting architectural and technical decision-making across platforms and services
  • Driving continuous improvement across engineering processes, quality, and operational practices
  • Helping teams balance delivery speed with long-term sustainability and platform quality
  • Contributing to a collaborative and psychologically safe team environment
Key Skills
  • Strong software engineering background with previous hands-on development experience
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams within agile environments
  • Strong understanding of backend engineering principles and distributed systems
  • Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure and modern engineering practices
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience supporting delivery across multiple technical initiatives
  • Ability to balance technical leadership with people leadership responsibilities
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
Desirable Skills
  • Experience working with .NET and microservices architectures
  • Knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code practices
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, observability, and monitoring tooling
  • Exposure to event-driven architecture patterns
  • Experience helping scale engineering teams and processes within growing businesses
