Our client is seeking an experienced Tail Lift Fitter / Coachbuilder to join their specialised coachbuilding team based in Manchester. Duties Of A Coachbuilder
- Install, service, and repair a variety of commercial vehicle tail lifts, including column, tuckaway, cantilever, and passenger lifts
- Conduct LOLER inspections, ensuring all certification and documentation meet relevant safety standards and legal compliance
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems on vehicles, including wiring, lighting circuits, and control units
- Work with hydraulic systems: hose replacements, ram repairs, pump servicing, and leak detection
- Collaborate with the coachbuilding team to integrate tail lifts into new vehicle builds and conversions
- Perform thorough pre-delivery checks to guarantee all lifting equipment is safe, operational, and compliant
- Maintain accurate records of all service, repairs, and inspection activities
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment
- Provide technical support and advice to colleagues and customers when required
Requirements Of A Coachbuilder
- Valid LOLER certification and proven experience performing statutory inspections
- Strong knowledge of vehicle wiring, electrical fault-finding, and 12V/24V systems
- Understanding of hydraulic systems and relevant components
- Experience fitting or maintaining tail lifts, mobility lifts, or similar lifting equipment
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals
- Full UK driving licence
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Desirable Experience Of A Coachbuilder
- Past experience in a coachbuilding, commercial vehicle bodywork, or automotive engineering environment
