Location: Greater Manchester (Hybrid - 4 days onsite)

Salary: Up to £50k (DOE)

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join an innovative product development team, where you will play a key role in the design and development of robust electronic products. You will take technical ownership of projects from concept through to manufacture, ensuring solutions are reliable, manufacturable, and delivered within a collaborative multi-disciplinary engineering environment.

About the Role

  • Lead the mechanical design and development process from concept through to production
  • Taking ownership of technical decisions and contribute to engineering and design reviews
  • Designing products with consideration for manufacturability, thermal management, and long-term serviceability
  • Producing detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks and PDM systems
  • Carry out structural and thermal assessments to validate product performance
  • Build, modify, and test prototypes to validate new concepts and designs
  • Work closely with electrical, production, procurement, and service teams to ensure designs meet operational and commercial requirements
  • Collaborate with suppliers to support product development and delivery timelines
  • Support and mentor junior engineers while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within engineering processes

About You

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • At least 5 years experience in mechanical design engineering
  • Strong SolidWorks CAD experience
  • Excellent understanding of sheet metal design and fabrication processes
  • Hands-on experience assembling, modifying, and testing prototypes using workshop equipment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with FEA, CFD, or other simulation and analysis tools
  • Experience using PDM systems
