An established engineering and infrastructure delivery organisation is seeking an experienced Senior EC&I Designer to support the delivery of complex industrial and energy-sector projects across the UK. This is a contract role and can be outside IR35. Suited to a motivated designer with strong experience in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) design, capable of producing high-quality technical deliverables while supporting junior team members and collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce safe, practical and cost-effective EC&I design solutions in line with project and company procedures
- Develop design deliverables including:
- Loop diagrams
- Block cable diagrams
- Schematic diagrams
- 3D models
- Prepare associated documentation such as:
- Bills of materials
- Cable schedules
- Design packs
- Material requisitions
- Support proposal and project activities as assigned by the Lead or Chief Engineer
- Mentor and support less experienced designers
- Review and check drawings in accordance with internal quality procedures
- Liaise effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders
- Ensure designs are developed with safety, operability and risk management at the forefront
- Promote safe working practices and ensure personnel are appropriately briefed and supported
Requirements
- ONC / OND / HNC / HND or equivalent engineering qualification
- Minimum 4 years experience in a similar EC&I / industrial design environment
- Strong understanding of design working practices and installation requirements across industrial sectors
- Proficiency in CAD software and 3D modelling tools
- Experience with AVEVA PDMS is highly desirable
- Knowledge of UK engineering legislation, standards and regulations
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
