The Opportunity
We're supporting a well-established, high-precision engineering business within the aerospace and defence sector, currently looking to appoint a Quality Engineer to support ongoing growth and new programme introduction activity. This role is ideally suited to a Quality Inspector looking to step into an engineering-level position, or a junior Quality Engineer with a strong shopfloor background. You'll join a structured quality environment, working across NPI programmes, production support, and continuous improvement activities, with clear progression into more senior Quality Assurance roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities across multiple programmes
- Manage non-conformances and support internal review processes (e.g. Material Review Board (MRB))
- Assist with preparation and review of First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) in line with aerospace standards
- Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) / Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities
- Conduct root cause analysis using structured problem-solving tools (8D, 5 Whys, etc.)
- Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and supplier teams to drive quality improvements
- Support internal audits and quality system compliance activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 3 years' experience within a manufacturing quality environment
- Background as a time-served Quality Inspector (or equivalent hands-on experience)
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience using inspection equipment (manual tools, CMM, vision systems such as Keyence measurement systems)
- Understanding of aerospace or defence quality standards (highly desirable)
- Exposure to quality systems and processes (QMS, non-conformance, FAIR, APQP/PPAP)
- Proactive mindset with strong problem-solving and communication skills
