About The Role
We are looking for a Plasterer to join our Onward Repairs team on a permanent basis. The purpose of the role is to deliver property maintenance services in line with all group standards and key performance indicators, ensuring high standards at all times while observing all legal, statutory and regulatory requirements during repair activities within customers’ homes, empty properties and other client locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivery: Assess, coordinate and undertake the most cost‑effective repair solutions in line with Onwards specifications or approved best practice, delivering value for money. Organise materials, provide detailed information, communicate effectively with customers, stakeholders and colleagues to deliver high‑quality service. Maintain an adequate store of materials and van‑based stock for operatives. Proactively organise workloads to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service whilst ensuring prompt work to the required standard.
- Liaison and Technical Advice: Liaise with clients, customers and colleagues regarding access, safe working practices, and assessment of repair requirements and progress.
- Quality: Ensure all work is delivered to a high standard.
- Records: Complete jobs on PDAs and maintain other records as required, including access details, materials used, job progress and follow‑on information.
- Health & Safety: Undertake work activities in line with health and safety requirements, demonstrating knowledge of key health and safety legislation and safe working practices. Assist in the promotion of Health & Safety.
- Work Equipment: Operate light machinery, plant, and powered hand tools in accordance with recognised safety procedures. Responsible for safe use and daily maintenance of allocated company vehicles.
Skills & Experience
- Essential: Sound knowledge of building construction, components, building trades and relevant building regulations. Experience working in a customer‑focused service. Proven ability to deliver a quality customer‑centred repair service. Experience working in a target‑driven environment. Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations, including ACOPS and HASAWA 1974. Full UK driving licence and access to personal vehicle.
- Desirable: Experience in commercial and domestic property maintenance. Experience delivering services within the social housing sector. Experience using PDA technology.
Qualifications
- Essential: Minimum of L2 NVQ or equivalent qualification in Plastering and relevant experience. Appropriate CSCS card.
- Desirable: Health & safety qualifications applicable to the sector or construction industry. Asbestos awareness training. Relevant power tool training. Manual handling training. Current training in COSHH & PPE. Training in access equipment and working at height (e.g., mobile work platforms).
