Trafford Council is looking for passionate and committed Personal Advisors to join our Through Care service, supporting cared-for children and care experienced young people as they transition into adulthood.
At Trafford, we pride ourselves on our through care approach, ensuring children and young people with permanence plans receive consistent, relationship-based support throughout their journey into independence. Our practitioners work closely together to provide stability, guidance, and positive outcomes for young people leaving care.
As a Personal Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting care experienced young people to develop independence, achieve their goals, and access the services they need to thrive.
Your Main Priorities
- Carrying out the duties of a Personal Advisor in line with the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000
- Supporting care leavers living independently within the community
- Building positive and trusting relationships with young people
- Working in partnership with housing, education, health, and other agencies to secure the best outcomes possible
- Supporting pathway planning and helping young people access opportunities in education, employment, and training
- Advocating for young people and promoting their wellbeing, independence, and resilience
About You
- Have experience working with children, young people, or care experienced young adults
- Are passionate about improving outcomes for care leavers
- Can build effective relationships and communicate confidently with young people and professionals
- Have strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Understand the challenges faced by care experienced young people and can provide practical and emotional support
