You’ll support children and young people to build confidence, develop new skills, and take positive steps towards greater independence and community living.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments with children, including those with complex or multiple needs.
  • Using strong trauma informed clinical reasoning to support accurate diagnosis and intervention planning.
  • Formulate and deliver personalised Occupational Therapy programmes based on evidence-based practice.
  • Using a wide range of trauma informed therapeutic skills from cognitive assessments, patient education, therapy techniques and group interventions.
  • Communicating clearly and compassionately with families, carers, and professionals offering advice and guidance.
  • Managing a meaningful caseload while offering trauma informed specialist guidance to colleagues.
  • Maintaining high standards of trauma informed clinical care for children under your management and supporting team members to do the same.
  • Working collaboratively with professionals across health, education, and social care.
  • Championing a multidisciplinary approach to care planning and service delivery that puts children at the heart of everything we do.

Qualifications and Skills

  • BSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., HCPC).
  • Membership with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD.
  • Experience delivering specialist Occupational Therapy, ideally with children or young people.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A positive, strengths-based approach to promoting independence and wellbeing.
  • The ability to create personalised, child centred therapy plans.
  • A commitment to teamwork, collaboration, and shared learning.
