Location: Irlam, Manchester

Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday (40 hours)

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Multiskilled Engineer ready to step into (or continue in) a lead role within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on position where you'll take ownership of engineering activities on site, while leading a small team and driving performance across multiple production lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a small team of engineers on shift
  • Plan and prioritise maintenance activities in line with production needs
  • Work closely with production to maximise uptime and efficiency
  • Carry out reactive and planned maintenance across site
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults
  • Fault-find and work with PLC systems
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping (5S environment)
  • Assess team capability and support ongoing development
  • Ensure machinery is fully operational and production-ready
  • Provide engineering support across multiple product lines

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment (Essential)
  • Strong electrical & mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Experience working with PLCs
  • Previous team leadership or supervisory experience
  • Proactive, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Knowledge of lean / 5S principles
