Location: Manchester or London (hybrid working)

Contract: Permanent Full-time or Part-time

We are working with a leading multidisciplinary consultancy seeking a Drainage & Flood Risk Engineer to join their expanding Water Services team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a varied range of planning-led projects across public and private sector developments. The position can be based in either Manchester or London, with flexible working available.

The Role

You will support projects from concept through to delivery, contributing to high-quality drainage and flood risk solutions. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing Drainage Strategies and planning support documents
  • Producing drainage designs in line with current standards and guidance
  • Creating technical drawings, plans and specifications
  • Supporting flood risk and drainage projects across a range of developments
  • Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Building strong client relationships
  • Mentoring junior team members where appropriate

About You

Candidates should have:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years' experience in drainage design (surface water and foul systems)
  • Experience designing SuDS schemes
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Understanding of pumping station design and flood risk assessments
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach

Desirable

  • Project management experience
  • GIS experience (ideally QGIS)
  • Working toward or holding professional membership
  • Experience with Sections 104, 106 and 278
