6-month contract for an Architectural Project Manager with the potential to convert into permanent. An opportunity has arisen for an Architectural Projects Manager to join a busy capital projects team, leading the architectural design and delivery of a varied portfolio of capital schemes. This role suits a design‑led professional who enjoys operating as the client lead, managing multidisciplinary consultants and ensuring high‑quality, compliant design outcomes. You will take projects from early feasibility through to delivery, working across all RIBA stages, with a strong focus on design quality, statutory compliance, sustainability and value for money.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design and project management of allocated capital projects from inception through to completion.
- Act as client lead for early RIBA stages (0‑4), including feasibility, options appraisals, design development and planning.
- Manage and coordinate external design consultants to deliver integrated, compliant design solutions.
- Prepare and review project briefs, specifications, drawings and technical information.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including Building Safety Act 2022, CDM 2015 and Building Regulations.
- Monitor design‑stage budgets, risks and change control.
- Administer JCT/NEC contracts through design and construction stages.
- Embed sustainability, accessibility and whole‑life value principles into design solutions.
- Provide professional advice to senior stakeholders and elected members as required.
Qualifications
- Degree‑level qualification in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Construction/Project Management or a related discipline.
- Professional membership (e.g. RIBA, ARB, CIAT, CIOB, RICS).
- Proven experience leading architectural design stages and managing external consultants.
- Strong knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Work and statutory design frameworks.
- Experience delivering capital projects through planning and building regulations.
- Working knowledge of JCT/NEC contracts.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working within complex, client‑side or public‑sector environments is highly advantageous.
