An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Traffic Planner to join a fast-paced transport and logistics operation. This role is ideal for someone with strong transport planning experience who can coordinate fleet movements efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of customer service, compliance, and operational performance. This role is 8am to 5pm on a 4 on, 4 off rotation.
You will play a key role in planning daily transport operations, managing fleet resources, and ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on time.
Key Responsibilities- Planning and coordinating daily transport operations accurately and efficiently
- Building strong working relationships with customers and drivers to ensure effective communication
- Providing drivers with clear instructions and ensuring all transport plans are followed
- Managing a varied fleet including fridge trailers, curtain trailers, bulk tankers, vans, meat rails, and rigid trucks
- Ensuring all loads meet compliance standards including weight, temperature, security, and vehicle suitability
- Maximising fleet utilisation through effective planning of primary and backload activity
- Monitoring delivery schedules and proactively communicating unavoidable delays to customers
- Supporting vehicle and trailer maintenance schedules including inspections, servicing, repairs, MOTs, and refrigeration maintenance
- Monitoring cost efficiency, quality, and productivity of goods movement
- Producing customer KPI reports as required
- Reporting incidents, accidents, and completing investigations with follow-up actions
- Supporting compliance with health & safety, driver hours, tachograph legislation, BRCGS, DTAS, vehicle hygiene, security, and fraud prevention standards
- Supporting driver compliance, training, and development requirements
- Previous experience within a transport planning or traffic office role
- Strong understanding of transport operations, vehicle types, trailers, payloads, and route planning
- Knowledge of drivers hours, tachograph legislation, and transport compliance
- Experience using transport management systems, planning software, tracking systems, customer portals, and digital fleet tools
- Excellent geographical knowledge
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick decisions under pressure
- Highly organised with excellent time management and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels
- Understanding of refrigerated transport operations is highly desirable
- Full UK driving licence required
