Futures recruitment are looking to appoint a Maintenance Assistant to support the upkeep and operation of a large manufacturing facility. This role is ideal for someone with experience carrying out minor electrical, mechanical, and fabrication work within an industrial or manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Facilities and Maintenance manager to ensure equipment, infrastructure, and production support areas are maintained to a safe and operational standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance and repair tasks across the manufacturing facility
- Support minor electrical works including replacing components, fault finding, lighting repairs, and basic wiring tasks
- Perform mechanical maintenance activities such as fitting, assembly, servicing, and basic equipment repairs
- Undertake light fabrication duties including cutting, drilling, welding, and metal repairs where required
- Assist with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
- Respond to maintenance breakdowns and facility-related issues in a timely manner
- Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and maintenance stores
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations and company procedures
- Support contractors and external engineers when required
- Keep accurate maintenance records and report completed work
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, or engineering support role
- Basic electrical maintenance knowledge
- Mechanical maintenance and repair experience
- Ability to carry out minor fabrication tasks
- Experience working within a manufacturing, industrial, or warehouse environment
- Good understanding of workplace health & safety
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely
- Strong practical problem-solving skills
- Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently
