My Client is recruiting for a Domestic Abuse Refuge Practitioner based in Leicester. The purpose of this role is to plan and implement high quality support for women and children affected by all forms of domestic abuse. This is a part time 18.5 hours per week permanent role.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- To provide direct support and assistance day and night to meet the needs of women and their children experiencing violence/abuse, maximising their physical, mental and social wellbeing by providing an environment that is confidential, safe, supportive and respects the dignity and individuality of each resident.
- To assist the Senior Services Manager and work collectively as part of a team and participate in the day to day running of the supported refuge accommodation to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
- Identify and develop support strategies to meet the needs of women and children affected by domestic abuse in all forms, seeking support across services.
- Provide high quality case work, 1:2:1 support and advice to victims/survivors who are/have experienced domestic abuse.
- Provide safety planning, undertake regular risk and needs assessments.
- Work with women to identify their support needs and incorporate these into women’s Individual Support Plans.
- Leading on referrals into the community team, you will develop and deliver a range of support services to women and their children.
Person Specification:
- Good general level of education.
- Good knowledge of domestic abuse issues and the statutory framework.
- Good understanding of referral processes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop good relationships with colleagues, volunteers, outside agencies and users of the service.
- Ability to speak at least one of the following languages: Urdu, Hindi, Mirpuri, Punjabi, Gujarati or Bengali, Farzi, Pushtu, African languages in particular Somalian is desirable.
- Role is subject to DBS check at the relevant level.
