We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Toolmaker to join our manufacturing team in Long Eaton. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, fabricating, and maintaining precision tools and moulds used in various production processes, including plastics injection moulding. Duties
- Design and develop tools, jigs, and fixtures using CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Fabricate components through grinding, milling, welding, and other machining processes
- Maintain and repair existing tools and moulds to ensure optimal performance
- Operate hand tools and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently
- Assemble parts and components with precision, adhering to technical drawings and specifications
- Perform quality inspections on finished tools to meet strict standards
- Collaborate with production teams to understand tooling requirements and implement improvements
- Document work procedures and maintenance activities accurately
Experience
- Proven experience in toolmaking or related mechanical fabrication roles
- Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and CAD design principles
- Skilled in grinding, milling, welding, and general fabrication techniques
- Knowledge of plastics injection moulding processes is highly desirable
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Experience working with hand tools, assembly processes, and tooling maintenance
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
