An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Workshop Engineer to join a busy and growing engineering team based in Barking. This role would suit somebody with a strong background within plant hire, heavy plant, construction equipment, powered access, forklifts or mechanical engineering environments looking for a stable, long-term position with strong overtime opportunities and progression.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on a wide range of plant and hire equipment within a workshop environment.

Responsibilities
  • Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on plant and hire equipment
  • Diagnosing faults across mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical systems
  • Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Conducting inspections and pre-delivery inspections (PDIs)
  • Attending to breakdown repairs and ensuring equipment is returned to service efficiently
  • Preparing equipment ready for hire
  • Completing all service paperwork and workshop documentation accurately
  • Maintaining high workshop and health & safety standards
  • Liaising with parts departments and workshop management teams regarding repairs and ongoing work

Requirements
  • Previous experience within plant hire, heavy plant or construction equipment industries
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding ability
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems
  • Basic electrical diagnostic experience advantageous
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Strong attitude towards health & safety
  • Full UK Driving Licence preferred
  • Relevant engineering qualifications advantageous (NVQ, City & Guilds, Plant Maintenance etc.)
