The Opportunity

Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate and resilient Pastoral Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN provision in the Ealing area. The setting supports pupils with complex needs, including Autism (ASD), SEMH, and communication difficulties, requiring a structured and therapeutic approach. You will play a key role in supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement, helping them overcome barriers to learning in a safe and nurturing environment.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral support for pupils with SEN
  • Support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
  • Implement therapeutic and de-escalation strategies
  • Work closely with SENCOs, teachers, and external professionals
  • Monitor pupil wellbeing and contribute to support plans and reports
  • Help create a safe, structured, and inclusive environment
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (ASD, SEMH)
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour and support emotional needs
  • Understanding of safeguarding, wellbeing, and therapeutic practices
