The Role
As a Multi Skilled Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving plant, equipment, and building services within a manufacturing environment. This is a hands‑on, varied position where you'll apply both your electrical and mechanical expertise to ensure operational efficiency and minimise downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance on plant and equipment
- Identify, manage, and mitigate risks across onsite equipment
- Perform fault finding on a wide range of machinery
- Maintain and improve preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes
- Work with three-phase systems (up to 440V), motors, drives, and inverters
- Maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
- Support health & safety compliance and contribute to best practice
- Write and review risk assessments, permits, and method statements
- Use CAFM systems and mobile devices to plan and complete tasks
- Liaise with clients and internal teams to resolve maintenance issues
- Deputise for the Shift Leader as required
- Work flexibly, including overtime, nights, and weekends when needed
About You
We’re looking for a proactive and skilled engineer with a strong background in manufacturing maintenance and a passion for problem‑solving.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Recognised apprenticeship (or equivalent)
- Strong experience in manufacturing/industrial maintenance
- Electrical qualifications (City & Guilds, 17th Edition or equivalent)
- Mechanical qualifications (City & Guilds or equivalent)
- Experience working with:
- 3-phase systems, motors, drives, and inverters
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
- PLC diagnostic and repair experience
- NVQ Level 2 (Electrical/Mechanical) or equivalent
- Ability to supervise contractors and manage permits
- Experience writing risk assessments and method statements
Desirable
- Working at Height certification
- IPAF licence
- Authorised Person (AP) qualifications
- Experience in heavy engineering environments
