Role Overview
We are recruiting a skilled and experienced Catering Tutor to deliver high-quality catering qualifications within a custodial environment at HMP Feltham. Based on site, the Catering Tutor will work with small groups of prison-based learners, supporting them to develop their vocational catering skills, industry knowledge and employability behaviours. The role focuses on helping learners achieve accredited qualifications while building confidence and supporting longer-term goals around progression and resettlement. As a Catering Tutor, you will plan and deliver engaging, high-quality training, provide effective advice and guidance, and ensure all delivery meets awarding body and quality standards within a secure setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver accredited catering qualifications to adult learners
- Plan and deliver engaging sessions using a range of teaching and training methods
- Adapt delivery to meet individual learner needs and learning styles
- Support learners to develop practical catering skills, confidence and workplace behaviours
- Create a positive, inclusive and motivating learning environment
Learner Support & Progression
- Carry out initial and ongoing assessments to inform learning plans
- Provide clear feedback, advice and guidance to support learner progress
- Monitor learner achievement against qualification requirements
- Support learners with progression planning and employability outcomes
Quality, Compliance & Administration
- Maintain accurate learner records, assessments and training plans
- Ensure delivery meets awarding body, internal quality and compliance standards
- Work professionally within a secure custodial environment
- Contribute to quality improvement activity where required
Essential Criteria
- Level 3 vocational qualification in Catering (or equivalent)
- Substantial vocational experience within the catering industry
- Proven experience delivering vocational-based training to adult learners
- Ability to use a wide range of teaching and engagement methods
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work positively within a custodial environment
Desirable Criteria
- Experience delivering catering or hospitality qualifications in a secure or specialist setting
- Assessor qualification - minimum Level 3
- Teaching qualification - minimum Level 4, or clear evidence this is currently being worked towards
- Experience delivering training within a training provider or college setting
Additional Information
Role is based on site at HMP Feltham. Appointment subject to relevant security clearance and background checks.
