Evolve Staffing Ltd is proud to present a unique and rewarding clinical opportunity for a dedicated General Practitioner (GP) with active Prison Clearance to join a specialized healthcare team within a secure facility in Wigan.

The Role: Primary Care in a Secure Setting

This position offers a distinct clinical environment, focusing on the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care to a diverse and often vulnerable population. You will be working within an integrated healthcare team, providing essential medical services that mirror those found in a traditional community GP surgery, but adapted for the secure estate.

Location: Wigan, Greater Manchester

Contract Type: Locum

Start Date: Immediate (Subject to clearance verification)

Key Clinical Responsibilities

  • Primary Care Consultations: Conduct comprehensive clinics for acute and chronic conditions.
  • Substance Misuse & Detoxification: Manage patients with complex drug and alcohol dependency and oversee stabilization protocols.
  • Mental Health Integration: Collaborate with mental health teams to provide holistic care for patients with dual diagnoses or neurodiverse needs.
  • Emergency Triage & Assessment: Provide rapid clinical assessment for emergency presentations within the secure perimeter.
  • Clinical Governance: Adhere to NHS England and CQC standards, maintaining accurate medical records on systems such as SystmOne.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

  • GMC Registration: Full and current registration with a License to Practise and inclusion on the GP Register.
  • Prison Clearance: Mandatory active prison clearance (HMPPS/NOMS/CTC); candidates must hold valid clearance.
  • RCGP Membership: Evidence of continued professional development and up-to-date appraisal/revalidation.
  • Resilience & Communication: Exceptional communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
