Shape the future of clean energy on one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Advisor to join a major nuclear construction programme, supporting the delivery of next-generation low-carbon energy. This is a site-based role where you will play a key part in driving environmental compliance, sustainability performance and continuous improvement across a highly regulated project environment.
Working alongside construction teams, contractors and environmental specialists, you will help ensure environmental standards are upheld while contributing to a project with long‑term national impact and excellent career progression opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular environmental site inspections and identify compliance issues or best practice.
- Provide advice on environmental legislation, permits and planning conditions.
- Review Environmental Management Plans, RAMS and contractor documentation.
- Support environmental audits, inspections and self‑assessments.
- Investigate environmental incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor contractor compliance with DCO and environmental requirements.
- Promote positive environmental behaviours across construction teams.
- Escalate environmental risks and non‑compliances appropriately.
- Support continual improvement initiatives across the project.
- Maintain accurate environmental records and reporting documentation.
- Experience in an Environmental Management role within construction or industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and compliance standards.
- Understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and contractor responsibilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently within a fast‑paced site environment.
- Degree qualified in Environmental Management, Environmental Science or similar.
- Experience working within ISO 14001 aligned Environmental Management Systems.
- Experience within major infrastructure or nuclear projects is desirable.
- Familiarity with DCO‑controlled projects is advantageous.
- Experience engaging with regulators or auditors would be beneficial.
