Our client is a top modern firm specialising in major and complex litigation, arbitration and regulatory investigations. Much of the work is multi-jurisdictional, involving close collaboration with international partners to manage strategic risks across borders. Your New Role
- Finalising invoices and credit notes in the financial system in line with firm procedures
- Uploading finalised invoices to a variety of client systems for processing
- Managing the invoice mailbox, responding to billing queries and directing matters to the appropriate fee earner or PA
- Posting client-to-office transfers in the finance system and arranging the corresponding bank transfers through the firm's banking portal
- Reviewing WIP reports after month-end close and taking appropriate follow-up actions
- Liaising with fee earners regarding aged WIP to determine billable items and assisting them in converting WIP into fees
- Checking that actions and comments from previous WIP reviews have been completed
- Managing WIP write-offs and retrospective WIP-to-bill allocations in accordance with firm procedures
- Attending WIP management meetings with senior stakeholders across the business
What You'll Need to Succeed
- One to two years of experience in billings, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment
- Familiarity with Aderant or 3E systems, or the ability to learn new billing platforms quickly
- Strong understanding of billing processes, including time entries, disbursements, write-offs and credit notes
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail when reviewing financial information
- Confidence communicating with fee earners, PAs and senior stakeholders, both in writing and verbally
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple billing deadlines and prioritise effectively
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, especially when dealing with billing discrepancies or client queries
- Comfort working with WIP reports and understanding how WIP impacts revenue and financial performance
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work closely with finance colleagues and support wider team objectives
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn and the drive to develop your skills within a fast-paced legal finance environment
