Jelly Technical is recruiting on behalf of a well-established food manufacturer in Leek for an experienced Packaging Technologist to support the Technical Team. This technically driven role focuses on driving innovation, packaging sustainability, and continuous improvements. This is a highly instrumental role ensuring packaging is compliant, cost-effective, and offers smooth efficient production capability.

As a Packaging Technologist, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Work with internal (NPD, Technical & production) and external teams (suppliers).
  • Collaborate with NPD Team to develop and trial new packaging formats.
  • Work with production to ensure a smooth manufacturing process and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Offer support across internal teams to optimise process flow.
  • Improve existing packaging to increase performance, commercial impact, and reduce waste.
  • Drive sustainability to increase the recyclable nature of packaging and highlight areas to reduce materials use.
  • Ensure packaging meets both regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Manage and maintain internal and external specifications and documentation.
  • Work with suppliers for new materials trials and approval.

  • Experienced in a technical role with a strong focus on packaging.
  • A background working in food or FMCG manufacturing.

  • Strong understanding of food safety legislation and retailer/customer standards.
