We are seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer to support specialist civil engineering and environmental works on a high-profile infrastructure project. This is a safety-critical role working in and around water, where environmental protection and compliance are of the utmost importance due to continual Environment Agency presence on site.

The role would suit someone with a strong groundworks or civil engineering background who is confident managing setting out duties alongside site coordination responsibilities on complex infrastructure works.

Essential Requirements
  • Valid CSCS Card
  • Experience in setting out for civils, infrastructure or groundworks projects
  • SSSTS qualification OR similar
  • CITB SEATS qualification (Online Course)
  • Invasive Species Online Training (training link provided Online Course)
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and temporary works designs
  • Competent using setting out equipment including GPS and robotic total stations
Desirable
  • First Aid qualification
  • Experience working around water or environmentally sensitive sites
  • Experience with reinforced concrete, piling or heavy civils projects
Scope of Works
  • Setting out and surveying for civil engineering and environmental works
  • Installation of concrete pump lines through an underwater tunnel using ground anchor winches
  • Water pumping operations including settlement and dosing systems
  • Underwater concrete pours and contamination monitoring
  • Concrete boom pump operations
  • Installation and removal of Porta Dams
  • Shuttering works near water in line with temporary works designs
  • Piling works
  • Concrete repair works
  • Pump set-up and de-rig operations
  • Maintaining accurate site records, QA documentation and as-built information
Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer on civils, infrastructure or groundworks projects
  • Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance
  • Good communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work closely with site management and engineering teams to maintain programme and quality standards
