Our client is seeking a European Road Freight Forwarder to join their operations team. This role will involve managing European freight movements from planning through to delivery, ensuring smooth coordination and efficient handling of all transport requirements.
Job Overview
- Manage and coordinate European road freight movements across full loads, part loads, and groupage operations using subcontractors and owner drivers.
- Coordinate collections, deliveries, sea crossings, and operational changes relating to delays or transport issues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and transport partners while supporting new business opportunities.
- Negotiate customer and supplier rates to support commercial performance and profitability.
- Provide accurate quotations and operational updates to customers and internal teams.
- Complete customs documentation and cross-border freight administration for UK and European shipments.
- Maintain accurate transport management system records including pricing, KPIs, and shipment documentation.
- Monitor service performance and communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, accounts, and internal departments.
- Ensure all operations are completed in line with company procedures and compliance requirements.
- Support out-of-hours operational requirements where required by the business.
Job Requirements
- Previous experience within European road freight forwarding, transport, or logistics operations.
- Strong understanding of European road freight movements including groupage, part loads, and full load operations.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, hauliers, and owner drivers.
- Understanding of customs procedures and cross-border freight documentation.
- Knowledge of import/export processes and European freight compliance requirements.
- Rail freight or multimodal logistics experience would be advantageous.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to negotiate rates effectively.
- Confident using transport management systems and maintaining accurate operational records.
Salary / Benefits
