We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Geologist with a strong background supporting major civil engineering, infrastructure or ground engineering projects. This is a specialist project based role suited to somebody with strong geological and geotechnical understanding who can provide technical support across a large and technically complex infrastructure development. Candidates with experience across tunnelling, heavy civils, infrastructure, energy or major construction projects would be highly relevant.

The Project

A major infrastructure and renewable energy development near Inverness is now entering delivery and forms part of a significant long duration investment programme supporting the future resilience of the UK electricity network. The project represents one of Scotland's most technically complex infrastructure developments and includes:

  • Large scale heavy civil engineering works
  • Underground and tunnelling activities
  • Major reinforced concrete structures
  • Power and energy infrastructure
  • Associated enabling and supporting works

Our client is a leading international engineering and infrastructure contractor with an established reputation for delivering complex civil engineering, energy and major infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally.

The Role

As Senior Geologist, you will provide geological and ground related technical support across the project, working closely with engineering, design and construction teams to support safe and effective delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing geological and geotechnical support across project delivery
  • Reviewing and interpreting ground investigation and geological data
  • Supporting excavation, tunnelling and earthworks activities with technical input
  • Monitoring and reporting on ground conditions and geological risk
  • Supporting design and construction teams with ground related issues
  • Assisting with geological mapping, inspections and technical reporting
  • Coordinating with engineers, designers and specialist subcontractors
  • Supporting safe delivery and technical compliance across the project

Qualifications

  • Geological or geotechnical experience within civil engineering, infrastructure or ground engineering projects
  • Experience working on complex construction or infrastructure schemes
  • Strong understanding of geological risk and ground conditions
  • Experience reviewing ground investigation and site data
  • Degree qualified in Geology, Engineering Geology or related discipline desirable
  • Strong communication and technical reporting skills
  • Experience within tunnelling, heavy civils, energy or major infrastructure projects would be advantageous
