We are currently seeking an experienced and organised Stores Supervisor / Stores Manager to oversee the daily operations of our busy stores department for a 6 month fixed term contract, covering a maternity leave. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual with strong inventory management and team leadership experience to join a growing manufacturing/engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support the daily running of the stores department, including picking, deliveries, and issuing parts to production teams
  • Manage inventory levels and ensure accurate stock control at all times
  • Ensure the timely receipt, storage, and distribution of materials to production
  • Maintain accurate stock records using ERP and inventory management systems
  • Liaise with Engineering teams to resolve Bills of Materials (BOM) issues
  • Work closely with Production teams to resolve delivery and material supply issues
  • Carry out regular stock counts and cycle counts
  • Investigate and reconcile stock variances
  • Supervise and support a team of 3 Storekeepers
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and environmental regulations within the stores area
  • Attend Health & Safety meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage material changes and amendments to orders
  • Oversee forklift maintenance, including arranging servicing and repairs
  • Resolve supplier invoice queries efficiently
  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding of new staff member

Experience Required

  • Previous experience in a Stores Supervisor, Stores Manager, or similar inventory/warehouse leadership role
  • Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or production environment preferred
  • Strong understanding of stock control and inventory management systems (ERP experience advantageous)
  • Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise across multiple departments
  • Experience supervising or managing staff
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures within a warehouse/stores environment
  • Forklift experience/license desirable
