We are seeking a commercially aware and proactive Logistics Operator to join our growing operation based in Immingham. This opportunity is ideally suited to an individual with experience within transport, freight forwarding, or logistics who is looking to play a key role within a fast‑paced and expanding business. This position extends beyond the responsibilities of a traditional traffic operator role. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to business growth through the development of carrier relationships, identification of commercial opportunities, and maximisation of existing freight networks and customer accounts.
Working alongside an experienced operational team, the successful applicant will have access to established supplier relationships, freight platforms, and a strong customer base, with the opportunity to make a genuine impact on the continued growth and success of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, negotiate, and manage subcontractor and haulage solutions in line with operational requirements
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with hauliers, customers, and logistics partners
- Manage and develop opportunities across freight exchange and transport platforms
- Identify opportunities to improve margins, increase efficiency, and generate additional revenue streams
- Maintain consistently high levels of customer service and communication throughout all operations
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and industry standards
Candidate Requirements
- Experience working within transport, logistics, or freight forwarding operations
- A good understanding of UK and/or European road freight movements
- Commercially minded with the ability to identify and develop business opportunities
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions
- Experience using freight exchange platforms would be advantageous
- Highly organised, motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities within a fast‑paced environment
