Duties of the Vehicle Technician

  • Accurately diagnose and repair motor vehicles, ensuring all work is completed to high standards
  • Conduct vehicle servicing, including routine maintenance and complex repairs such as cambelts and timing chains
  • Carry out mechanical and electrical work with minimal supervision
  • Record materials used and time spent on repairs efficiently
  • Road test vehicles to ensure repair quality and safety compliance
  • Complete diagnostics, fault finding, and ensure all work meets company standards

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Mechanics and the ability to produce certification
  • Proven experience as a Diagnostic Vehicle Technician (post apprenticeship)
  • Full UK driving licence and own set of tools
  • Ability to perform a wide range of mechanical and electrical tasks, from basic servicing to advanced diagnostics
  • Demonstrable high skill level in fault diagnosis, repair, and vehicle maintenance
