Seeking an Assistant / APC Building Surveyor to join a leading global construction consultancy based in Southampton. The company is a multidisciplinary construction consultancy with offices around the world, providing a range of services including Building Surveying, Cost Consultancy, and Project Management, working on behalf of clients in the Public and Private Sector. Their Southampton Office Building Consultancy department focuses on delivering excellent building surveying services across sectors such as Local Government, Education, Defence, Government Bodies, National Frameworks and Commercial. Due to increased workloads, the department is looking for an Assistant / APC Building Surveyor. This hybrid role requires office attendance in Southampton 2‑3 days a week.
Your new role
As an Assistant / APC Building Surveyor, you will support and deliver high‑quality building surveying services for a portfolio of clients in the Public and Private Sector, developing your skills toward Chartered status and a rewarding career.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management of various building‑related projects.
- Preparation of work specifications, tender documents and building contracts.
- Preparation of reports, budget management and contract administration.
- Undertaking building surveys, condition surveys and defect diagnosis.
- Attendance at site meetings and inspections.
- Liaison with clients, consultant teams and contractors.
- Providing regular updates and reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
- Working closely with senior team members to develop industry skills and knowledge.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Hold a degree in Building Surveying.
- Currently progressing your APC.
- Minimum 12 months of experience in Building Surveying.
- Proficient technical knowledge, including condition surveys, specification writing and contract administration.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent literacy and numeracy abilities.
- Full UK driving licence.
