Barker Ross are recruiting for a permanent HGV Class 1 RORO/Skip Driver to work for a company based in the NG12 Cotgrave area (just off the A46). This permanent position is for a family‑run business established over 20 years ago, with a busy recycling depot in Cotgrave. The role involves working alongside a hardworking and dedicated team. Essential qualifications:
- Hold a Class 1 licence for a minimum of 2 years
- Experience using RORO lorries
Shift pattern and pay rate:
- Monday to Friday: 7.30 am – 4.45 pm
- 3‑week rota for Saturday morning shift 8 am – 12 noon (OT rate)
- Pay starts at £14.50 p/h
Job Duties:
- Collect, deliver and exchange customer skips on site and transport them back to depots
- Operate RORO lorries, artic lorries and skip lorries with competence
- Maintain a polite, friendly persona when dealing with customers, remaining calm and patient behind the wheel
- Deliver, exchange or collect scrap loads safely from suppliers' sites
- Deliver loads to customer sites
- Conduct daily checks on vehicles and report problems (defect reports)
- Ensure safety attire and equipment are used where applicable, and that all loads are secure before travelling
- Complete relevant paperwork for each load transferred
- Perform occasional yard duties when transport duties are quiet
- Carry out any other duties as directed by the Yard Manager or Supervisor
Experience:
- Class 1 licence and up‑to‑date driver CPC
- Experience delivering loads to and from customers
- Experience with yard duties

- Is adaptable to meet business priorities
- Has good communication and customer service skills
- Is organised, safety‑conscious and motivated
- Is comfortable working outdoors
