A well-established multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking an Assistant Structural Engineer with around 2 years experience to join its growing team in Hertfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer with some consultancy experience to develop their technical skills within a supportive and collaborative environment.
The Opportunity
- You will be joining a dynamic structural engineering team delivering projects across a range of sectors including commercial, residential, energy, and R&D.
- Working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you will gain exposure to both new build and refurbishment projects, supporting your progression towards Chartership.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out structural design and analysis in steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.
- Use industry software such as Tekla and TEDDS.
- Collaborate with architects, clients, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Support project coordination, planning, and reporting.
- Attend meetings and liaise with stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits and ensure compliance with design and safety standards.
- Contribute to innovative design solutions and problem-solving.
About You
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent).
- Ideally 2+ years' experience within a structural consultancy.
- Experience designing in common building materials.
- Understanding of geotechnics and foundation design.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and keen to develop professionally.
- Working towards Chartership (IStructE or ICE).
