About the Role
We are seeking an innovative and passionate Head of Food to lead and develop our Food & Nutrition provision. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious teacher or experienced middle leader to shape a dynamic curriculum that equips students with essential life skills and a strong understanding of nutrition, health, and food science. The successful candidate will lead the subject across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential for Key Stage 5), inspiring students through engaging, practical learning and high-quality teaching.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop the Food & Nutrition curriculum to ensure high standards of teaching and learning
- Deliver engaging and practical lessons that promote creativity, independence, and healthy living
- Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise attainment
- Manage and maintain food preparation facilities, ensuring health and safety standards are met
- Develop enrichment opportunities such as clubs, competitions, and partnerships with the wider community
- Support and develop colleagues within the department
The Ideal Candidate Will
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Have experience teaching Food & Nutrition or a related subject at secondary level
- Demonstrate strong leadership and organisational skills
- Be passionate about food education, nutrition, and student wellbeing
- Have excellent subject knowledge and a commitment to high standards
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
