Our client, a prominent force in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Quality Engineer on a contract basis to join their team in Harlow. This Fixed Term Contract (FTC) role spans 3-4 months with an essential focus on QA/ENG Test witnessing. Our client is looking for a professional capable of operating in a complex engineering and legislative environment whilst contributing to high-profile programmes delivered to customers in both the UK and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAIRs), preferably to AS9102 standards.
- Investigate defects to identify and address root causes.
- Maintain quality records using QPulse.
- Monitor and report status effectively and timely for assigned programmes or areas of responsibility.
- Interface and communicate with programme and functional areas to support business goals.
- Conduct Quality Audits including product release and process audits.
- Provide support during external accreditation audits & knowledge of regulatory requirements (AS9100 & ISO 9001).
- Ensure customer contractual requirements and external regulations are understood and adhered to.
- Ensure effective and timely closure of Audit NCs, RCCA, customer complaints, and continual improvement tasks.
Job Requirements
Essential Candidate Qualities
- A self-starting and confident team player who works well with others and sets a positive example.
- Experience and working knowledge of FAIRs to AS9102 Standards and related documentation.
- Background in Quality Engineering with knowledge of electronics or mechanical assemblies and technical drawings.
- Ability to establish and maintain productive internal and external relationships.
- Familiar with Quality Standards AS9100 & ISO 9001.
- Capacity to work autonomously to achieve agreed goals.
- Proactively anticipate problems and develop innovative, logical solutions with the team.
- Willingness to challenge and question constructs and processes.
Desirable Candidate Qualities
- Interest in Aerospace and/or Defence.
- Supportive character capable of navigating sensitive and pressurised situations to overcome programme challenges.
- Degree level qualification or equivalent relevant work experience.
The role is based out of the Harlow site, following a 4-day working week totalling 37 hours.
