We are currently recruiting for a Sheet Metal Fabricator to join a well-established manufacturing company based in Halstead. This is a full time, permanent opportunity offering long-term stability, and the chance to work on high quality manufacturing, on predominantly stainless-steel products. This role would best suit a skilled fabricator, with confidence in TIG welding.

About the role:

  • Working within a busy fabrication workshop, you will be responsible for manufacturing stainless steel components used in commercial kitchen equipment, ventilation systems, and bespoke metalwork.
  • The role involves a mix of TIG welding, fabrication, and machine operation, with a strong focus on accuracy and finish quality.
  • You will be working from technical drawings, using a variety of fabrication tools and machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricating and assembling stainless steel components and structures.
  • TIG welding stainless steel to a high cosmetic and structural standard.
  • Supporting laser welding processes where required.
  • Cutting, forming and assembling sheet metal parts from engineering drawings.
  • Operating press brake machinery to bend and form components.
  • Assisting with CNC fabrication processes when required.
  • Ensuring all work meets required tolerances, alignment, and finish quality.
  • Inspecting finished work to ensure high standards of craftsmanship.
  • Working collaboratively with assembly and workshop teams.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience in sheet metal fabrication.
  • Strong TIG welding experience with stainless steel.
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
  • Experience operating press brake machinery.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in finish quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Desirable (for top salary bracket):

  • Laser welding experience.
  • Experience assisting with CNC machinery.
  • Relevant welding or fabrication qualifications.
