Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer with experience in EPLAN or AutoCAD to support the design and development of electrical systems for low-volume manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across the full design lifecycle, from concept through to production, and capable of producing accurate, high-quality schematics and layouts tailored to bespoke or small-batch projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using EPLAN or AutoCAD
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for low-volume manufacturing projects
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, production teams, and project stakeholders to ensure designs meet technical and commercial requirements
  • Select appropriate electrical components and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations
  • Support prototyping, testing, and validation of electrical systems
  • Modify and improve existing designs based on feedback from production or field performance
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving design-related issues during manufacturing
  • Maintain organized design files, revision control, and documentation standards

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer or similar role
  • Proficiency in EPLAN and/or AutoCAD Electrical
  • Strong understanding of electrical design principles, control systems, and panel design
  • Experience producing schematics and layouts for manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with low-volume or bespoke manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC, BS, or equivalent)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with PLC systems and control panel design
  • Knowledge of wiring harness design and documentation
