Position: SEN Tutor - All ages

Hours: Approx. 10-40 Hours/week

Rate: £30.00 - £35.00 p/hr

We are a supportive and inclusive educational organization dedicated to providing high-quality tutoring and learning support to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Our goal is to ensure that every student, regardless of their challenges, has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential. We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate SEN Tutor to join and support SEN students in a variety of settings across Greenwich. The students will need 10-15 hours per week each.

Role Overview

As an SEN Tutor, you will work closely with students with SEN, offering tailored, one-to-one or small group support. You will create and implement tailored learning plans, using a range of teaching strategies and resources to meet the needs of students. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of pupils and helping them achieve their academic and personal goals. The students may have a wide range of SEN, such as Autism (ASD), ADHD, Dyscalculia, Dyslexia, SEMH needs, such as emotional based school avoider, mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, personalized tutoring to students with SEN
  • Assess learners' needs and plan and implement tailored and structured programmes of learning in line with young persons' EHCP outcomes
  • Ensure the children feel safe and secure
  • Work closely with teachers and parents to track student progress and adjust learning plans accordingly
  • Foster an inclusive, positive, and encouraging learning environment
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to parents and educational professionals
  • Help students develop their social, emotional, and academic skills
  • Promote independent learning and help students build confidence in their abilities

Key Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (ideally 2 years experience)
  • Knowledge of different SEN categories (e.g., autism, dyslexia, ADHD, speech and language needs) and how to deal with them best
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and school staff
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to a wide range of learning needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • A passion for education and helping children achieve their full potential
  • A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) or relevant SEN training (e.g., SENDCO, SEN TA experience) is desirable but not essential
