A growing and innovative manufacturing organisation based in Gloucester is seeking a Junior Manufacturing Engineer to join its Technical team. Reporting to the Manufacturing Lead, this role offers an excellent opportunity for an aspiring engineer to develop within a forward‑thinking environment, contributing to all stages of the product lifecycle.
The Junior Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in supporting manufacturing excellence by assisting with process development, optimisation, and performance monitoring. Working closely with cross‑functional teams including R&D, production, suppliers, and customers, the successful candidate will help ensure processes remain efficient, robust, and ready to support new product introductions.
Key Responsibilities- Support root cause investigations into manufacturing issues, contributing to effective and measurable solutions
- Assist in analysing manufacturing performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Apply structured tools such as process mapping, GAP analysis, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and PFMEA
- Contribute to the development and optimisation of manufacturing processes, including material processing, impregnation, pressing, blown film lines, and assembly
- Collaborate with R&D and design teams to support new product introduction through APQP processes
- Help create and maintain manufacturing documentation including process flows, work instructions, and control plans
- Minimum HNC in an engineering or science‑related discipline
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or technical engineering role is desirable but not essential
- Proactive and organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic manufacturing environment
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across cross‑functional teams
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and present information concisely
