MERITUS are recruiting for a Lead Control Systems Software Engineer to join our client based in Glasgow to support the delivery of complex industrial automation and energy infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of industrial control system software solutions, primarily using Siemens PLC platforms.
- Oversee full project lifecycle delivery including requirements capture, system design, software development, testing, and commissioning.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring support to engineers across multiple project teams.
- Interface directly with clients and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and technical alignment.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and on-site commissioning activities.
- Contribute to both new-build and upgrade projects across power and energy infrastructure environments.
Skillset / experience required:
Essential:
- Strong experience designing and programming Siemens PLC systems including TIA Portal, S7, and PCS7.
- Proven background delivering PLC, SCADA, and DCS control systems within industrial or energy environments.
- Experience working across full project lifecycles within control systems engineering.
- Strong understanding of IEC 61131 programming languages including Ladder Logic, Function Block, and Structured Text.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead engineering teams.
- Experience supporting commissioning, testing, and client-facing project activities.
Desirable:
- Previous experience within the Energy, Power Generation, Utilities, or other highly regulated sectors.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex automation projects.
- Knowledge of industrial networking and communication protocols.
- Understanding of functional safety and control system standards.
- Experience working within systems integration or engineering consultancy environments.
