An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Draughtsperson to join a growing heavy engineering and structural steel business based in Glasgow. The successful candidate will be responsible for the 3D modelling and detailing of structural steelwork and architectural metalwork across a range of engineering projects within sectors including defence, power generation, oil & gas and nuclear. This role would suit somebody with strong TEKLA experience and previous exposure working closely with fabrication shops, project teams and manufacturing environments.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Producing 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings for structural steelwork and architectural metalwork
- Working closely with project and operational teams to deliver drawings in line with project specifications and programme requirements
- Reviewing and assessing technical specifications to ensure compliance with end product requirements
- Preparing accurate fabrication and manufacturing drawings for workshop production
- Maintaining accurate logging and control of technical information and drawing revisions
- Liaising with fabrication shops and production teams to support manufacturing activities
- Supporting design coordination and resolving technical queries where required
- Ensuring all drawings and models are completed accurately and within project deadlines
- Communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel throughout project delivery
Core Skills & Experience
- Strong TEKLA experience essential
- Previous experience within structural steelwork or architectural metalwork environments
- Experience working alongside fabrication shops and manufacturing teams preferred
- Experience delivering projects within defence, power generation, oil & gas or nuclear sectors advantageous
- Good understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
- Ability to work independently and within project teams
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to deliver work accurately and to programme
